theater: sound of music in october 2008

When surein told us that we'll be performing sound of music in october, I thought 'oh shit. heavy set changes!'. I will be backstage moving heavy props, along with Peter and Jakque, stressing out Sugi to a point where he would would blackouts. And today when I went to take some pictures of the rehearsals, I heard Jerome saying 'there is going to be a set change here... this bed would have to go... and stage hands will need a few seconds for it...' Ahem!

I watched the movie several times. It illustrates the philosophy of music; how music works; how it soothes the soul. This post contains a note written by Surein de S. Wijeyeratne about the performance and some pictures I took.

I'll leave you with some insight from a wise old man:

'If I were not a physicist, I would probably be a musician. I often think in music. I live my daydreams in music. I see my life in terms of music.' - Albert Einstein

pictures: lunar eclipse - august 2008

Taking these pictures were physically exhausting. It was quite humid and the mosquitoes were having a party biting by black ass! But it was worth the effort. I took as many as 200 pictures and most of them were blur thanks to cloud cover. Next time I'm going to the dry zone!! I used Dr. Ray's Meade ETX-90 telescope. With my Canon EOS 350D mounted on it, I could not photograph steep angles as the Camera constrains the telescope side mounts. So I had to make use of my Canon AF 75-300mm lens.

opinion: desiderata

i met dr ray the other day... and he showed me this poem from a church in baltimore which he had visited... and i thought i'd share it with you...
Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.
