the answer is wood!.

my bro was complaining about a high electricity bill and was asking how to reduce it. so i thought i'd share the answer i gave him.

energy: sea's energy insecurity

in response to the an article published in the nation this sunday1 titled "An energy secure Sri Lanka".

the author featured the bossa of the sri lanka sustainable energy authority (sea), harsha wickramasinghe. sea is approaching energy security by promoting conservation and indigenous energy sources such as biomass, wind, etc. the author and the bossa failed to see an important aspect of sri lanka becoming energy independent.

I saw an old (single phase) ceb energy meter (a meter used to measure number of electrical units) from 1979 at a friend's place. And we were having a discussion about the meter - if it could be hacked by placing a magnet across it. :)

energy: cost of oil production

i was curious to know what the actual cost of oil is... the production cost that is... that is from finding oil to drilling it out... offshore oil production costs as much as $60/barrel but otherwise the cost of production is less than $20/barrel... the current oil price is over $90/barrel... see extracts bellow...
